Ricardo Irving

Things to remember:
Tricella: pharmaceutical company. Funded Africa's branch of B.S.A.A. Participated on Bio-terrorism testing.
B.S.A.A.:Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance
SOA:Special Operations Agent

Ricardo Irving is only in one game, Resident Evil 5.

Irving was director of the oil facility for Tricell.
In 2006, Irving was contacted by the butler of one of Umbrella's founders to work with Tricell on a new virus. He agreed and began testing the fatal virus on local African tribes Sodibaya and Ndipaya. Some of the information from Tricell was leaked to the B.S.A.A. In 2009, Chris Redfield was sent to Africa to investigate Jill Valentine's three year-"disappearance". He was assigned to partner up with Sheva Alomar, a SOA.

Chris and Sheva chased down Irving on their mission, eventually catching up to him in order to get answers about Jill's whereabouts. Irving injected himself with the virus, transforming himself into a giant aquatic monster. Sheva and Chris must fight the newly mutated Irving. After gunning him down for a while, he transfigures again, only this time smaller. He tells the two B.S.A.A. agents to continue to a cave, where there questions will be answered. He then dies and bubbles away into nothing. He was about 27 when he died.

Irving was a greedy and selfish man, only caring about money and power. Along with his Tricell job working with Excella Gionne and Albert Wesker, he sold bio-weapons on the black market.

I absolutely love Ricardo Irving. He is quite annoying, and he is sort of crazy. He has the most majestic New York/Brooklyn accent I've ever heard. He is a very obnoxious character, but I think it's his accent and his lines that draw me to him. Also he has a very unique and pretty face.

Steve Burnside

Steve in Darkside Chronicles, 2009                                      Steve in Resident Evil Code:Veronica X, 2000

Things to Remember:
B.O.W.:  Bio-Organic Weapon
Umbrella Corporation: Created the T-virus, G-virus. A pharmaceutical company that secretly makes fatal viruses.

Steve Burnside appears in two of the Resident Evil games, first in Code: Veronica X and then in the mini remake, Darkside Chronicles.

Steve's father worked for the Umbrella Corporation. He was selling Umbrella's information at an auction, landing him and his son in a prison on Rockfort Island. Also when he was caught, his wife was killed.

Rockfort Island was attacked by the airborne T-virus, causing all of the prison guards, wardens, and prisoners to turn into zombies. Claire Redfield (sister of Chris Redfield, who was first mentioned in this post.) was also on the island at the time that Steve was.

Steve was separated from his father during the zombie attack, but he managed to survive long enough to meet Claire. He left her to find an airplane soon after their encounter.

When Claire found Steve again, he was in a computer room. Using a computer, Steve found out that Claire's brother, Chris, was being monitored by Umbrella. Claire emailed Leon (her friend from Raccoon City, mentioned in this post) and told him about Umbrella's recording of Chris, additionally the coordinates of the island. Steve got mad and told Claire that her brother wouldn't save her an that she would "just end up disappointed if she relied on others" and then angrily rushed out of the room.

There was a trap in a palace on the island, in which there were two guns that when picked up, would heat up the room and cook you. Steve fell for this trap, when Claire came and saved him. He left her alone soon after.

The next time Steve shows up is when he saves Claire from a dangerous B.O.W. Later, the owner of the island, the possibly insane Alfred Ashford took them down to the basement of the palace. After they reached a certain floor, they fell off a shifty walkway. Claire's foot got stuck under some rubble, when Steve's infected father came after her. Steve was forced to shoot his flesh-eating father. Claire leaves Steve alone to give him some time.

Steve saves Claire once again, from Alexia Ashford, Alfred's twin sister. He wounds her, and they realize that Afred, with his split personality, was pretending to be his sister. A self-destruct sequence is activated in the palace. Claire and Steve find an airplane, and leave the island, only to crash in Antarctica.

They encounter Alfred again, this time sending him off a railing, sending to his supposed death.

They eventually come across a B.O.W. that was once Alfred and Alexia's father, Alexander Ashford. Steve is almost killed when Claire saves him, to which he says "Next time, I'll protect you, Claire". ((aw my bbys))
At about this time, a dying Alfred revives his twin sister who had been "asleep" for fifteen years. She destroys the truck Steve and Claire planned on escaping in, while capturing the two as well.

Alexia injects the T-virus into Steve, causing him to transform into a beastly B.O.W. Claire is forced to fight him, but he briefly regains consciousness and attacks Alexia. She counterattacks with a fatal blow. As he was dying, he degenerates back to his human state. His last words were "I'm glad that I met you.. I... I love you.. Claire.". ((sobs for an eternity))

The game continues with Chris rescuing Claire, and them escaping Antarctica and Alexia.

Excella Gionne

I mentioned her in this post.

((she has an amazing accent-Italian.))

Excella first appears and also dies in Resident Evil 5(2009).

Her family was respected and well known in Europe for their export-import business. She was born with intellect, and with her father's "business acumen". School was very easy for her, and she enrolled at a university at a young age. She majored in genetic engineering.

Her grandmother was one of the Travis family(the founders of Tricell, a company that dealt with pharmaceutical needs, natural resources, and business trade.) which gave her a noble lineage.

Excella was the CEO of Tricell's African Division.

When Albert Wesker discovered the facility in Africa where various testing happened(mostly the Plaga virus-like in Resident Evil 4.) he began testing there also with Ricardo Irving, an employee of Excella. Excella and Wesker made their own army of "Majini"(the name given to humans that were tested with the Type 2 Plagas or Type 3 Plagas) to fight BSAA members Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar.

Wesker tested himself with the Prototype Virus(from the Progenitor virus), and Excella had to daily administer his vaccine, the PG67A/W, which kept his crazy superhuman powers in check.

Excella is seen multiple times throughout the game, usually disappearing soon after she arrives. (also she usually says something sassy)

Near the end of the game, Wesker betrayed Excella and injected her with Uroboros(basically what the whole game is about-a virus that creates B.O.W.s, essentially.)

((Wesker don't care 'bout nobody but himself))

These are some of her last words:
To Wesker: "Why.. when I've done so much.. all for you."
"Albert, you said we'd change this world together!"

 her and Weskey

this is what she turns into when she gets infected:

Brian Irons

I wanted to change it up a bit by doing a post on a character that isn't a main protagonist.

Brian Irons appeared in Resident Evil 1.5, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles-Memories of a Lost City, and Resident Evil 3 Mercenaries mini-game Mad-Jackal.

As a university student, Brian Irons was arrested with two rape charges. He went through psychiatric evaluation, but was released because fingerprints/solid evidence were required to be sure, and because of his high academic standing. A fax of his criminal history was sent to Chris Redfield and can be found in the S.T.A.R.S. office by Claire Redfield.

Brian was taking bribes from Umbrella Corporation, mostly from William Birkin, about five years prior to Raccoon City's destruction. After the Arklay Mountains incident(Resident Evil 1), to make sure that Umbrella would be safe, and to ensure that he would continue to receive bribes, Brian shut down the S.T.A.R.S. division. (The remaining members of S.T.A.R.S; Barry Burton, Rebecca Chambers, Jill Valentine, and Chris Redfield, knew that Umbrella caused the Arklay Mountains incident.)

During the outbreak(Resident Evil 2) he went insane and began hunting the officers in the police station like it was a game.

When Claire Redfield first meets Irons, he has Mayor Warren's daughter's(in the novelization of this game, her name is Beverly Harris.) body on his desk. He tells Claire that she had been killed by zombies, but he had kidnapped her and locked her in his office, killing her later.
In his diary(that Claire finds) he says that he desires to hunt Warren's daughter and stuffing her body, turning her into a trophy(saying that he is interested in taxidermy-he also has a stuffed tiger in the station).

When Claire leaves after they first meet, he hides in his basement/torture chamber(filled with torture devices and chemicals) with Warren's daughter's body. Claire finds him down there later and watches him get pulled into a nearby manhole by William Birkin. You can hear him, screaming with misery. Seconds later, he is tossed back up through the manhole, but only the top half of his body. (In another scenario, a G-larvae emerges from his torso, ripping his shoulder severly.)

Side note:
Him and Chris Redfield hated each other.
He had a bad temper.
 In the torture chamber.
 One of Irons' deaths.

Claire Redfield pt. 1

Definitely one of my favorite Resident Evil characters, she is the younger sister of Chris Redfield.
^this is her Resident Evil 2 outfit

RESIDENT EVIL 2 TIIIIMME

The zombies in this game were infected by the T-virus. There is one B.O.W. infected by the G-virus, a more powerful variation of the T-virus.

Claire was born in 1979, making her six years younger than Chris. When Chris left for the US Air Force, Claire started attending a university. There she took an interest in motorcycles.

In September 1998, Claire rode her motorcycle to Raccoon City to look for her brother, who went missing. When she arrived, the town was infested with zombies and B.O.W.s. She was saved by rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy from a zombie, and after they ran to a police car to get out of the city. A zombie was in the car, causing them to crash. Very shortly after, a zombie truck driver was speeding towards them, so they jumped out, separating from each other. They decided that they would meet at the police station.

((keep in mind that they are separated for 99% of the game))

In the station both Claire and Leon deal with zombies and various B.O.W.s, including Lickers, Cerberuses, Ivy plants, Giant Spiders, a Giant Moth, a Giant Alligator, Mr. X, and William Birkin(infected by the G-virus).
The stages of William Birkin.
Mr. X,  over 8 feet tall.

The two have to individually solve multiple puzzles and uncover the truth about Umbrella Corporation.
In the S.T.A.R.S. office, Claire finds Chris' diary, stating that he was no longer in Raccoon City, but in an Umbrella Research facility in Europe. He also writes that he hopes that Claire will forgive him for not telling her sooner. (The two are very close, both of their parents died when they were young.)

While in the station, Claire runs into the corrupt Chief Brian Irons. He had the mayor's daughter's dead body on his desk, telling Claire that she was killed by zombies. When Claire left he hid with the dead body in his basement, which was full of various torture tools. In his diary that Claire finds, he says that he wants to stuff the mayor's daughter's body and make her a trophy. (Also, he was responsible for several of the officers' deaths in the station, hunting them as a game when he went insane.) When Claire goes down to his "torture chamber", she has a short conversation with Irons, when Birkin pulls him into a nearby manhole. He is heard screaming, and then seconds later the top half of his body is tossed back up.

Claire eventually finds Sherry Birkin, daughter of two important researchers Annette and William Birkin. The twelve-year old is at first very afraid of Claire, but then grows to love her. (Claire is very motherly and kind, but she can also be a total badass.)

Claire and Sherry go down into the Umbrella Corporation labs underneath the station. They encounter and fight large B.O.W.s like Mr. X and William Birkin(AKA G-Birkin) multiple times. (Birkin changes form a few times, see above picture with a mutated man with a large eye on his right shoulder)

At one point, Sherry got separated from Claire in the sewers. Unable to protect herself, her father infected her with the G-embryo(G-virus). It did not reject her like it did with Brian Irons, because she was directly related to William thus making her a compatible host. When she and Claire met up again, she experienced extreme stomach pains. Claire found her a safe place to rest(and she gave Sherry her vest) while she looked for a cure.

Claire sees Annette Birkin(who is more involved with Leon S. Kennedy's scenario, but Claire encountered her a few times) one more time, before she is fatally wounded by William. While she was dying, she gave Claire instructions for the cure to the G-virus, called DEVIL. Claire contacted Leon and told him to take Sherry to the train while she made the cure.

She met up with the two again and gave Sherry DEVIL. Just when they thought they'd be safe, William attacked again.

(DEVIL did not actually cure the G-virus in Sherry, but it mutated it and gave Sherry advanced healing powers minus the side effects.)

When Claire finally kills Birkin,  the three got on a train out of Raccoon City.

As they were leaving, the underground labs self-destructed.
Right after, a nuclear missile was fired at the city. The President decided that Raccoon was unfixable, and that the T-virus could get out and infect many other towns and cities, so the decision was made. In the end Leon and Claire have to tell young Sherry that her parents were dead. Sherry is later taken into custody by the United States government, where they did tests daily on her mutated G-cells for years. Claire visited her as much as she could after she returned from Anarctica(after the game Resident Evil: Code Veronica X, taking place three months after the destruction of Raccoon City.)

Chris Redfield pt. 3

hopefully the last Chris Redfield post

Some definitions and things to remember:
B.O.W.=Bio-Organic Weapon. A "monster" created with the T-virus/Progenitor virus, G-virus, T-Veronica virus, C-virus, Uroboros, etc. Created by Umbrella researchers.
BSAA=Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance. Founded by Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Clive R. O'Brian, and eight others. They track down B.O.W.s and other viral weaponry developed by Umbrella.

  • Leon S. Kennedy knew Chris Redfield, because Kennedy escaped Raccoon City in 1998 with Claire Redfield(and Sherry Birkin, who was about twelve at the time).
  • Albert Wesker was Chris Redfield's arch nemesis, who was killed in the game prior to this, Resident Evil 5.

Pronunciations:
Helena= Hell-ay-nuh
Piers Nivans= Pee-ehrs Nee-vahns (most common pronunciation)
J'avo= Who knows. Some people say J-ah-vo, some say Joo-ah-vo, it's your pick.
(Jake) Muller- Mew-ler

Okay, now we will be talking about the latest installment of the series, Resident Evil 6 (keep in mind that this is not the sixth installment).

Also, Resident Evil 6 contains four "campaigns", which are basically storylines. There is one where the playable characters are Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans, one with playable characters Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin, and one with playable characters Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper. There is also one that  is unlocked of you play the main three, and the only playable character is Ada Wong. This is the only campaign that is one-player only. I will be discussing the Chris Redfield campaign.

Chris Redfield ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

On December 24, 2012, about three years after Resident Evil 5, Chris and his team(he is now a Special Operations Unit Captain) were sent to Edonia to take care of some new B.O.W. species called J'avo. The J'avo were given to the rebels in a civil war occurring in the Eastern European state.

After a while, Chris and his team meet Sherry Birkin, a government agent whose life was saved by Chris' sister, Claire Redfield. He recognized her, and the man she was protecting, Jake Muller (Albert Wesker's son-Chris could tell he looked like someone he'd met). Their talking was brief as they were attacked by two very large B.O.W.s, derived from the new C-virus. They defeated the said B.O.W.s, called Ogromen, and got a helicopter to take Jake and Sherry to their destination.

Eventually they made it to a City Hall, meeting a woman who claimed to be Ada Wong(a main character in RE2 and RE4) and she told them about Neo-Umbrella and the C-virus. She also explained that Neo-Umbrella were the ones who supplied the B.O.W.s to the rebels. Chris was unsure of this woman, but decided to escort her out of the building. She led them into a trap, and separated Chris and his partner Piers Nivans from the other four team members. She locked the other four in a cage and injected them with a "needle bomb" which infected them with the C-virus. They mutated into Chrysalids and shortly after hatched into Napads(a big, gross B.O.W.), and then proceeded to attack Chris and Piers. Chris was beaten down by the Napad that was previously Finn Macauley, the rookie of the group and Chris' good friend. Chris had to be dragged out by Piers, and they were saved by BSAA troops, and unconscious Chris was taken to a nearby hospital.

After he regained consciousness, Chris had post-traumatic amnesia, and he was unable to remember who he was or what had happened. He did however, feel an inexplicable guilt, and he ran away from the hospital without anyone noticing.

For six months he was a violent drunk, staying in Eastern Europe at a hotel and hanging out at a bar all of the time. In June 2013, the bartender asked him to leave, to which he refused, and a man stepped in to help when Chris tried attacking him with a broken bottle. Piers Nivans stepped in, having tracked Chris down, and stopped the fight. He expressed how disgusted he was with Chris and forced him to face his past by showing him pictures of their dead comrades. He then recognized the BSAA logo on Piers' jacket, and all of the patrons at the bar revealed themselves to be BSAA agents in disguise, when Piers told Chris they were taking him to duty no matter what.

Although he couldn't remember the incident, he agreed to go with them.  The two, including some other operatives, were sent to Waiyip, a Chinese province of Lanshiang. It was in the middle of a Neo-Umbrella attack. When Chris saw a bunch of Chrysalids he recalled what had happened and he swore vengeance on "Ada" for killing his comrades.

They eventually met up with Jake and Sherry, who had been missing for six months, and protected them from some J'avo. They then left and traveled through the slums of a Waiyip district, where they encountered a large B.O.W. snake, who killed everyone but Chris, Piers, and a man named Marco Rose. Marco was then shot by "Ada" with a C-virus dart, and he mutated, forcing Redfield and Nivans to kill him.

They found "Ada" in a warehouse, and Leon S. Kennedy(appeared in RE2, RE4, RE:Darkside Chronicles) and his partner Helena Harper, who were also in pursuit of "Ada". Leon stopped Chris from shooting "Ada", and Chris said he lost all of his men because of her, to which Leon replied that he lost over 70,000 people, including the President(named Adam Benford) because of national security advisor Derek C. Simmons. Leon and Chris got into a brief fight, and "Ada" used a flash grenade to escape. Leon managed to talk sense into Chris, and Leon and Helena left to pursue Simmons.

Chris and Piers followed "Ada" and cornered her on a bridge, where she revealed she was going to spread the C-virus throughout the whole world. Just as she said that, one of Simmons' henchmen arrived and shot her in the chest, making her fall to her death. She left a briefcase, containing a syringe full of the C-virus.

Nivans and Redfield learned later that there was a ship that was equipped with missiles to spread the C-virus through gas form nearby. They hijacked a jet and attacked the freighter, but were unable to stop it from launching the missiles. Quickly most of the city of Tatchi's population became infected and turned into zombies. Soon after, Chris was contacted by Leon who asked him to rescue Jake and Sherry from a Neo-Umbrella underwater facility. During this conversation he learned that Jake possessed antibodies for the C-virus and that he was the son of Albert Wesker.

On their way to the underwater facility, Chris decided that he wanted to retire from his active duty, and to pass on his position to Piers after rescuing Jake and Sherry. When they met up with Jake and Sherry, Chris told Jake he was the one who killed his father. Jake had Chris at gunpoint, and asked if it was personal or if he was just following orders, to which Chris replied, "Both.". Jake said that there was more important things at stake than just the two of them.

When they were leaving, the "ultimate B.O.W." Haos, which was intended to spread the C-virus throughout the world, hatched. (The woman who claimed to be Ada was actually a clone of her, named Carla Radames. Carla was a genius researcher for Neo-Umbrella, and she was the one who created the C-virus. By deception from Derek C. Simmons she became the Ada Wong doppelganger.) It had been Carla's intention was to use Haos. It attacked the duo, and then grabbed Chris. Piers could do nothing but inject himself with the C-virus to save Chris. He was then able to shoot electrical blasts at Haos. Haos decreased in size, making it vulnerable to Piers' electrical blasts and Chris' bullets. They thought that they had killed the B.O.W. after they shot it's last exposed organ.

When they reached some escape pods Piers realized he would soon lose control to the C-virus and attack Chris. He forced Chris into an escape pod to save him. Chris yelled but the pod was locked and he couldn't help Piers. Chris was then launched into the water, when Haos recovered and attacked the pod, but was electrocuted by Piers' transformed arm. The facility then blew up. The morning after, Chris was rescued by the BSAA and decided to keep his position in memory of Piers Nivans.

Chris Redfield pt. 2

Okaaaay so we're just gonna skip to Resident Evil 5, because that's basically all about Chris. Resident Evil 1 took place in 1998, and RE5 takes place in 2009. In between those years Chris saves his sister, Claire Redfield from a zombie-infested nightmare thing in ~99, went to a mission in Russia with his partner Jill Valentine, another mission with Valentine(and a few others) that mostly involved boats and crazy B.O.W.s(Bio-Organic Weapons), and an investigation of an estate belonging to a founder of the Umbrella Corporation. In this investigation, Valentine and Redfield find their old captain, Albert Wesker(who betrayed them in RE1 so he's a bad guy, also he was a researcher for Umbrella) and the dead body of the owner of the estate(Ozwell E. Spencer). The partners engage in a fight with Wesker, but he had injected himself with a virus made by Umbrella(called the T-virus), so he had superhuman strength. When he was just about to kill Chris, Jill threw herself at Wesker which sent them through a nearby window, supposedly killing them both. Chris searched for Jill for three months, and when he didn't find anything Valentine was declared dead.
~ RESIDENT EVIL 5 TIME ~
In the beginning Chris has this line: "More and more I find myself wondering if it's all worth fighting for... Maybe one day, I'll find out."
Chris didn't believe she was dead, and when he saw a picture of a test subject in Africa that looked like Jill, he set out to an African desert, in a town called Kiuju. There he met up another person in the B.S.A.A.(Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, an organization founded by Valentine, Redfield, and nine others) named Sheva Alomar. She was assigned to help him out, because he was unfamiliar with the area. They meet a B.S.A.A. agent named Reynard Fisher, who provides them with weapons and information. Later, Alomar and Redfield watch him get beheaded. They find out that there are many B.O.W.s and infected civillians(making them very hostile), and they must fight many creatures to find out what's going on in Africa.
Fisher had told them there was a guy named Ricardo Irving(who has an awesome Brooklyn accent) who had answers for them, but when they finally caught up to him, he injected himself with a Plagas virus(a type of Uroboros, a virus taken from a Progenitor virus; made by Albert Wesker. If you really don't understand or if you just wanna know more about the Progenitor virus, here's a shnazzy link-> click heeere) and the virus rejected him so he turned into a giant Kraken-like sea monster.
Sheva and Chris had to fight him, and before he died he told them their answers were in a nearby cave.

They later find out that Wesker, a woman named Excella Gionne(who was all romantic with Wesker, but he was just using her to further his plans with Uroboros), and Tricell(an organization that funded the B.S.A.A.) were behind the infected Africans. Wesker and Excella reveal a cloaked figure that was shown multiple times throughout the game to be Jill Valentine, She had some object on her chest that injected her with drugs so she could see what she was doing, but she couldn't do anything about it.(Like she saw that she was killing innocent people, but she was unable to stop D:) Wesker and Excella leave so Jill can kill the two B.S.A.A. members, but they resist and successfully remove the object from her chest. She apologizes and tells Chris that Wesker plans to spread Uroboros throughout the whole world, and that Chris is the only one who can stop him. They leave Jill behind to find Wesker.

Wesker later injects Excella with Uroboros, and it rejects her(so does Wesker-oooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh buurrrnn.). Chris and Sheva kill this large B.O.W.

from this: "model-like beauty"                                  to this. vvv

They eventually find Wesker boarding his plane that he planned to spread Uroboros with, and they fight. Wesker needed to inject himself with Uroboros regularly with exact dosage to keep it stable, but Jill told them that if they injected him with it at a unexact dosage, it would act like a poison. They had a sample of the Uroboros and they injected him with it.
Sheva was almost knocked out of the plane, but Chris saves her. The plane crashes into a nearby active volcano, and they again must fight Wesker. He had half-transformed, maintaining some his human body but replacing his arms and chest with some Uroboros "tentacles" and plane shrapnel.

They lead him onto an unstable rock and then into the lava, and Jill and another B.S.A.A. member(also Sheva's friend and mentor) fly in with a helicopter and pick them up. Wesker emerges from the lava and Redfield and Alomar kill him at last with rocket launchers.
The game ends with a voice-over by Chris Redfield, saying
"More and more I find myself wondering if it's all worth fighting for... for a future without fear... yeah, it's worth it"

((okaY ELKIN IM NOT EVEN GOING TO PROOFREAD THIS BECAUSE I LITERALLY SPENT AN HOUR AND A HALF WORKING ON THIS U SUCK BLAAAAHHH))
