Glutton and Double Head

These monsters are from Silent Hill 3. It was released in 2003 for Playstation 2, and then PC(there's also a HD version that was released in 2012 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 but they changed Heather's voice and it's really rather meh so i don't recommend it).

Glutton: Glutton is a tall monster trapped in a large, cylindrical cage. The bottom of the cage is filled with long spikes(the appearance is similar to stalagmites). It has two mouths; one on its head and one on its chest. Around its head there is a metal ring. This could be representing a halo, and how Claudia Wolf(a woman that works with The Order, a cult in Silent Hill) sees monsters as holy figures created by God(the deity of The Order).
In the game, Glutton is not a threat. It is just an obstacle. Heather(the protagonist) must find all the writings of a story called Tu Fui, Ego Eris and read it aloud in front of the monster to make it disappear.
In Tu Fui, Ego Eris, there is a monster that ate townspeople and knights. It blocked the villagers from leaving their homes, like how Glutton blocks Heather from leaving the building they are in.
Symbolism- In the story, there is a priestess that is killed, resurrected, and defeats the monster. This could be hinting that the priestess is an embodiment of Heather being reborn from Alessa Gillespie to kill the monsters in Silent Hill(I kinda explained who Alessa is in this post). The spikes at the top and bottom of the cage could represent teeth, like how the creature in the story ate people.
Glutton may represent an infant; an infant must eat a lot in order to grow. Glutton is also harmless, like an infant.
I'm also gonna add this bit bc good:
"the creature may represent the female reproductive area, as its body's shape is slightly reminiscent of a medical diagram of that area in the way it starts out wide on the top and slenders down toward the bottom, just like the uterus and the vagina. Its two mouth openings could be taken to represent the urethral and vaginal openings as well. It is also worth noting that the vagina's primary function is to take things into itself (i.e. consume), such as the penis and semen, which fits the theme of gluttony. The soldiers the Glutton in the story eats could be seen to be a metaphor for sperm."
~why I like it~ dude character design A+. I really love that the Silent Hill series has many dangerous/powerful monsters, but it also incorporates completely harmless monsters.

Double Head: canine creature, with its head split vertically through the middle. Bandaged with burned, bloody strips of skin.
Symbolism- their bandages and burns resemble Alessa's hospitalization(she was hospitalized for getting hurt in a fire). Also resembling Alessa's fear of dogs. The two sides of the head symbolize Alessa and Heather.

"It is possible that this monster's split, or parted head, could be symbolic of vaginal lips, which must be parted in order for intercourse, impregnation, and birth to occur. The tongue hanging out from between the two halves of its head could be symbolic of an still-intact umbilical cord just after giving birth. The Double Head's name may invoke thoughts of conjoined twins with two heads, which could also tie into body horror and women's fears of problematic pregnancies."

Flesh Lip and Mary

These monsters are from the game Silent Hill 2. This game was released for PlayStation 2 in 2001. It is set in 1993.
In the beginning of the game, James Sunderland(the protagonist),  arrives in Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his wife, Mary (who he died three years prior to this, from a chronic illness). In the letter, Mary requested to see James at their "special place", which confused James, as the whole town of Silent Hill was their "special place". While searching around Silent Hill, James discovers the town has become foggy, rotted, and abandoned.

((so actually James murdered Mary a few days before the game starts. He suffocated her with a pillow. He believed she died three years previous to the game, and that he'd just received some mysterious letter from her. In the game, he finds a video of him murdering her, and he regains his memories.))

Flesh Lip: there are only three of these in the game. It is a bloated mass of meat and flesh, with a pair of legs on the underside. There is also a large mouth on the underside. The monster is suspended in a rusty metal frame. It makes an animalistic groaning noise.
Symbolism- The metal frame could represent a bed, and the large mouth could resemble Mary's cruel words that she would say to James before she died(with the illness, she was convinced that was ugly and a monster).
The contraption the monster is in could also symbolize the confinement Mary had to deal with, in bed with a terminal illness.
~why i like them~ I like the character design, because it's just a gross, lumpy meat sack thing and I think that's hella rad.

Mary (boss): Mary's corpse in a metal frame(similar to Flesh Lip). Her arms and legs are tentacle-like. She attacks by spewing flesh-eating moths at James, hitting him with the metal frame, or strangling him with her tentacles.
Symbolism- this form of Mary represents James's conflicted emotions towards her. The metal frame could symbolize her confinement of being bedridden. The moths could be representing death. Mary can strangle James with her tentacles, hinting at his suffocating her with a pillow.
~why I like her~ I really really really like her character design. Like how she's just splayed all weirdly(weird=best word 2k14) on the metal. And her icky flesh and bloodiness. 9/10.

Scarlet and Asphyxia

These monsters appear in the game Silent Hill: Homecoming. This game was released for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in America, 2008. The protagonist, Alex Shepherd, returns to his hometown of Shepherd's Glen after a supposed military discharge. Upon his arrival, he finds out that his father and younger brother, Joshua, are missing(also many other people in the town).

Scarlet: the manifestation of  Doctor Martin Fitch's guilt over murdering his daughter, Scarlet. (he dismembered her with a scalpel and sacrificed her to appease the Order's god.) Doctor Fitch knew that she would have to be sacrificed, so he gave her the "perfect childhood". He spoiled her with love and material items, mostly dolls. Shortly after this monster appears, she bites Doctor Fitch's head off.
Symbolism- her form is based on her love for dolls. She is the memory of Scarlet manifested from her father's guilt. Her rapidly beating heart(visible when some of her ceramic armor is broken off) could represent the trauma she experienced as she was getting mutilated. Her (sorta)disconnected joints represent her dismemberment.
~why I like her~ uuuuuuuUUUUuuUUUHHhhhhhhhHHhHHH chARacTerR deSiGN?????? dude dude dude dude she's all spooky and weirdie and dollish and bloody and frickin awesome. 10/10.

Asphyxia: the vengeful/monstrous manifestation of Margaret Holloway's memories of her daughter, Nora. Margaret suffocated Nora and sacrificed her to the Order's god. Nora was an avid reader, her favorite book being Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Symbolism- The name and appearance are representative of how Nora died. Asphyxia means suffocation/a deficit of oxygen. The numerous hands choking Asphyxia symbolizes how Nora was murdered. Asphyxia's multiple arms represent the Caterpillar in Alice(Nora's favorite character in the book). Her "scream" is similar to how the Caterpillar blows smoke from his hookah at Alice.
~why I like her~ chARACTer dESIgnnnn??? Dude she is super spooky. I really love how she's creepy and icky and yeee 10/10

Valtiel and Scraper

These are from the game Silent Hill 3. This game was released in 2003. Heather Mason(daughter of Harry Mason, main protagonist of Silent Hill 1) is the protagonist.

Valtiel: his name means "attendant" by way of the French word "valet". He is the "Attendant of God". He is humanoid, with a leathery mask sewn onto his face. His head twitches and vibrates rapidly. He wears ceremonial robes and gloves.
Symbolism- "As God's Attendant, Valtiel observes Heather in order to ensure the birth of God". His mask/smock/gloves are "reminiscent of surgical wear, symbolizing his role in helping to deliver the reborn God." (the thingies in apostrophes are not my words, I just liked those sentences.)
~why I like him~ I really really love his character design, but I also love his ridiculous twitching. (he's beautiful uwu)

Scraper: these are like a smaller, less aggressive/threatening version of another monster type in this game, called Missionaries. They are medium-sized, wearing dirty brown robes and a brown sack on their head. They also wear bloody rubber gloves. They wield tonfa-like weapons, with blades at the end(which they scrape together, giving them their name).
Symbolism- some people say that Scrapers are members of the Order(Silent Hill's cult). They can also be seen as a symbolism for abortion. "Scraper" could refer to the scraping of a fetus; and the rubber gloves/smock/mask could resemble surgical attire. The long blades on their weapons could be an exaggerated form of abortion tools.
~why I like them~ definitely the character design. And the possible abortion symbolism.

Larval Stalker and Raw Shock

These monsters are from the game Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. This game was released for the Wii in 2009, and later to the Playstation 2 and Playstation Portable in 2010. It is the seventh installment in the series.

The main protagonist, Harry Mason, goes to the town of Silent Hill to look for his missing daughter, Cheryl. (This game is set in about 2008, and is sort of in alternate universe, separate from the canon events/characters/etc.)

Larval Stalker: small, partially visible, little ghostie-like entities. They are harmless, and will run away when a flashlight is shone on them. They emit loud, screechy/high-pitched/static noises.
Symbolism- they represent Harry's memories of Cheryl. (they really don't have a lot of symbolism, but there are only two monsters in this game so I kinda had to pick this one, sorrryyy)
~why I like them~ I'm not really all that fond of these monsters, I do like the fact that they are little ghosties.

Raw Shock: hairless, human-like creatures. They have high-pitched, girly voices. They can adopt four traits throughout the game, depending on the player's actions.
(symbolisms kinda included here so there won't be a specific section for that)
Feminine: they get exaggerated female body parts, like large breasts/booties. Their only facial features are a large mouth and eyes. They have zipper-like rips on their back, resembling a corset's threads. Their legs have stitches on them, making it look like they are wearing stockings, and their feet are in the shapes of high heels. As the game progresses, they get more perverted. Organs, bones, and nipples exposed, and heads that resemble penises with their foreskin pulled back. When they are attacking Harry, they do it very sensually.(player's actions to get these Raw Shocks- going through a woman's laundry and finding her lingerie, staring at women's chests/booties, etc.)
Atrophied: they have bones and joints poking out of random places on their body, and holes everywhere. Their feet are stubs. Extremely disfigured. (player's actions to get these Raw Shocks- getting distracted by trivial things, being uncaring/rude)
Diseased: bubbles and some fungus-like flesh are found on their bodies. They look sickly and cancerous. Misshapen mouth. (player's actions to get these Raw Shocks- focusing on drugs/alcohol, staring at a liquor collection, staring at a bong, etc.)
Abstract: their limbs are sliced, they have floating "disks" throughout their body. A hole is on their cross-shaped head. (player's actions to get these Raw Shocks- being good and caring)
~why I like them~ how could I not?????? They are very cool. I really really love that they can change throughout the game, just based on your decisions. (also by the end of the game, they might have a mixture of two or three of the traits) I also love love love love looooooove the character design. 10/10.

Prisoner Juggernaut and Screamer

These monsters are from the game Silent Hill: Downpour. This game was released on March 13, 2012(for North America). It's the eighth game in the series.
The protagonist is a man named Murphy Pendleton. His son, Charlie, was sexually assaulted and murdered by a neighbor, Patrick Napier. Murphy's wife, Carol, blamed him for their son's death, and divorced Murphy. He felt the need for revenge, so he decided he would get himself into prison in order to get close to and murder Napier. Soon after this, Murphy stole a police patrol car and kept it for ten hours, until he was arrested.
A few years later, Murphy and a few other prisoners were on a bus, getting transferred to another prison,  when they crashed and went off the road. Murphy escaped the crash and  eventually wandered into the town of Silent Hill.

Prisoner Juggernaut: a large, muscly, humanoid creature. It has pale skin, numerous tattoos, barbed wire wrapped around its torso/arms, and a permanent grin.
Symbolism- The Juggernaut could represent Murphy's fear of the other prisoners. It could also be a representation of himself, and that his self-image is something monstrous.
~why I like them~ I really like the character design. (the smile is my favorite.) I also like the symbolism(there are a few more but I didn't really want to talk about them).

Screamer: resembles a woman, wearing a tattered dress. Her skin is gray, and she has an inhumanly wide-shaped mouth. Also empty, bleeding eyes.
Symbolism- She may represent:
-a murder victim, with her decaying flesh. Her screams could represent those of a victim's, in a struggle.
-Carol. When the Screamer is just standing, it has its arms close to its body, rocking back and forth(like a mother cradling her child)
-Another prisoner's (his name is Sanchez) psyche as a possible rapist or sexual predator. (I really don't want to explain so here is a thing nOT IN MY OWN WORDS, SOMEONE ELSE WROTE THIS OK)
(also, "her" is a Screamer that Sanchez was beating up)
Sanchez is shown repeatedly beating her face, which is heavily scarred with slashes, and her skin is stretched very tightly as if she has had plastic surgery; this could suggest that Sanchez has previously beaten his victim(s) so badly that they required facial reconstructive surgery. Her flesh-like coat is torn most around where her breasts would be, possibly hinting at a link to sexual violence and sadism. As Murphy displays no signs of sexual aggression, this further supports that she is Sanchez's monster.

~why I like them~ they're actually really quite annoying. They screech, and pop out of nowhere which is very spooky. But I like the character design(especially the face) and symbolism.
